Serial mouth diarrheist Ted Nugent is making another bid for attention as the grimiest link in Mitt Romney's endorsement chain, opining in his Washington Times column that the Supreme Court's decision on President Obama's Affordable Care Act has him 'beginning to wonder if it would have been best had the South won the Civil War.'
While most Americans could give a good rip what Ted Nugent has to say, his comments give Mitt Romney a chance to show off his mad denouncing skillz.
The (oh-so-original state's rights) context doesn't really matter, since it's just window dressing for Nugent to get more attention, but here it is, anyway:
Chief Justice Roberts squandered the opportunity to restore judicial, financial and legislative sanity to a government that by any sane person's standards is insane and addicted to centralized federal control of our lives.
Because our legislative, judicial and executive branches of government hold the 10th Amendment in contempt, I'm beginning to wonder if it would have been best had the South won the Civil War. Our Founding Fathers' concept of limited government is dead.
Read the rest if you've got the stomach for it, but what I'm really looking forward to is some reporter asking Mitt Romney (who called Ted Nugent and secured his endorsement, then bragged about it, but claims he didn't 'solicit' it) if he agrees with Nugent that things might be better if the South had won the Civil War.
It's almost certainly true that Mitt Romney doesn't agree (although it would have saved his church a pesky 1978 policy change), but Romney's responses to right-wing garbage have been absurdly craven. He was so afraid to offend Nugent that he responded to the Motor City Motormouth's last eruption via a spokesperson, who studiously avoided naming Nugent.
When asked about Rush Limbaugh's extended 3-day 'slut' rant, Romney would only say 'That's not the language I would have used.'
I imagine the campaign's response this time will be something along the lines of 'Governor Romney supports agricultural business, but respects the law of the land regarding uncompensated employment.'

Ted's a regular Trent Lott.
This attempt to be named Romney's V.P. will play well at the Weekly Standard, National Review Online and The Daily Caller.
ROMNEY/NUGENT '12!

Every time Nugent opens his mouth, he reinforces a stereotype of his own ignorant stupidity'
'Nugent is endorsing Romney. Good for Romney.
Take Nugent out on the stump as well!
-
What a pisser! He loves to put his foot in his mouth.
I dare someone to even try and defend him.

What does Gary Busey have to say on the subject?
'Uh, the South fought in a war, with civilians from the South, against the North. I had great BBQ in South Korea, with the love of Jesus. Tic-tacs, Funyuns!' -
Don't worry that's not what he meant. If there's any backlash, he'll blame the lefty media for making him look bad as part of some liberal conspiracy.
