Karl Rove's Super PAC Makes $25 Million Ad Buy In Eight Swing States

Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies, the Super PAC led by Karl Rove and other Republicans, announced on Friday a new $25 million ad buy for a new anti-Obama ad set to air locally in eight key swing states next week.

Beginning July 10, the ad, titled 'Excuses,' will run on local television stations in swing states like Florida and Ohio, in addition to Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, and Virginia.

'We're suffering through one of the weakest economic recoveries in our history, and the only thing President Obama is offering is slogans and excuses,' the Crossroads GPS said in a press release.

'America's jobless rate is still too high,' the ad begins. 'Barack Obama's got lots of excuses for the bad economy.' The ad then splices together a bunch of soundbites to form the president's 'excuses':

'Headwinds coming from Europe' We've had a string of bad luck' An earthquake in Japan' An Arab Spring' An ATM, you don't go to a bank teller' Some things that we could not control' You go to the airport, and you're using a kiosk' We've been a little bit lazy, I think, over the last couple of decades.'

'But Obama never blames Washington's wild spending and skyrocketing debt,' concludes the narrator.

  • Money well spent.  I just saw a headline where persons newly added to disability are higher than new jobs numbers.  That is just sad.

  • Dismal economic news today.  Have to get Obama out of there.  We have to get a leader, not a whiner. We will be so much better off when we get a new president and a new congress.
