Harvey Weinstein Tells Maddow Why He Fundraises For Obama: Romney Is A 'Bad Product'

Harvey Weinstein is first and foremost a film man, but this year he has taken on a big role as a fundraiser for President Obama. He explained why he decided to take such a role to Rachel Maddow last night' mainly, that Romney was a 'candidate who says nothing,' a 'bad product' Americans could not believe in.

Weinstein compared the two candidate to two films he spent 'the exact same amount on': The King's Speech and Our Idiot Brother. 'Romney's is Our Idiot Brother' you can spend all the money in the world, if you've got a bad product, it doesn't matter,' he argued, noting that this was a marketing principle, not a finance one. A big problem he identified in the Romney camp was 'we have a President who speaks, and speaks to the issues, they have a candidate who says nothing. They also have a campaign strategy which is 'say nothing.'' He predicted 'people will get tired of it' and concluded decisively that Romney 'is not capable to run the United States.'

'Can I ask you a movie question?' Maddow then asked, anticipating talking about his new film. 'Much better!' Weinstein replied, 'I know I have to pay my dues and answer political questions.'
