During a speech last Thursday at the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Nashville, Tennessee, First Lady Michelle Obama implored the black churchgoers to become more politically active and carry on the 'precious legacy' of activism 'that has always paved the way for change in this country.'
'To anyone who says that church is no place to talk about [political] issues, you tell them there is no place better,' Obama said. 'Because ultimately, these are not just political issues. They are moral issues.'
The First Lady preached against what she suggested is an epidemic of political apathy among the black community.
'How many of us have asked someone whether they're going to vote, and they tell us, 'Nah, I voted last time,' or 'Is there really an election going on?'' she said. 'After so many folks sacrificed so much so that we could make our voices heard, so many of us just can't be bothered.'
'But let's be clear,' she continued, 'While we're tuning out and staying home on election day, other folks are tuning in.'
CNN points out that President Barack Obama received 96% of the black vote in the 2008 presidential election, and a strong turnout again among black voters this time around would be helpful in securing re-election.
She implored the churchgoers to recommit themselves to a legacy of activism 'that means being informed, it means following the news ' it means showing up to vote, and not just every four years, but every year in every election. It means engaging with the folks we elect ' And if you don't like what you see, then let them know or, better yet, run for a seat at the table yourself.'
'Today, the connection between our laws and our lives isn't always as clear as it was 50 years or 150 years ago,' she added. 'And as a result, it's sometimes easy to assume that the battles in our courts and legislatures have all been won.'

she actually want their taxes, by going political they'd lose their tax exempt status.
-
Correct. But that also means that the US Conference of Bishops also loses their tax exempt status since they are admittedly political now.
-
Because separation of church and state only applies when one or the other is conservative.
-
I imagine I'll never cease to be amazed at how little understanding wingnuts have of the US Constitution.

For the first time in her life Michelle Obama actually cares about going to church'. (Rev. Wright non withstanding, its now quite obvious all the Sundays they spent in his church were all about perceptions in the south side chicago african american community)
These are the most false people that I have ever seen in politics. They race baited the Clintons, accused Hillary of being responsible for Bhotto's death and lied, lied, lied about not taking money from lobbyists and K street at the same time that they were taking in more money from big oil, big insurance, big pharma and K street than anyone ever did before. (and he worked hand in hand with the same media figures that attacked Clinton and Gore like Matthews and Russert ' using the same disproved and disgusting attacks that put Bush Jr in the white house)
I am a a lifelong Democrat and this year will do whatever I can to defeat Obama. Its necessary because Obama had destroyed the Democratic co olition and if he can race bait his way again and pull off a narrow devisive win, we will lose more seats in 2014 than we did in 2010 and that was the worst mid term election either party has suffered in almost a century. He will leave the party unable to win outside the coasts, urban areas and college campuses. Screw that and him.
Romney 2012
Clintons 2016 -
You mean like the liberal wingnuts that go foam at the mouth crazy whenever a simple white wooden cross is displayed anywhere near anything that could possibly be construed as public land? Or, God forbid, a Christian youth group merely using a school class room, after hours, to hold a meeting? Those wingnuts?

Democrats support integration of mosque and state.

Lifelong Democrat' suuuuuure

I used to love the Democratic Party. But they have been taken over by people who flat out cozen blatant racism and race advocacy. Let's have a single principle for all rather than putting up with this hypocrisy and racism.

Ha, ha. Well said.

Cue the manufactured right wing outrage in 5'4'3'2'

During an audio interview, Rev Wright spoke to Ed Klein, author of 'The Amateur' and stated that the Obama's were not 'churchgoers' and did so ONLY for political purposes.

Manufactured? If, for example, Michelle Bachman did anything remotely racialist like this at a white church, her career would be over. What's manufactured is taking absurd positions that opposing Eric Holder needs a racial coalition to walk out of congress. What's manufactured is saying 'food stamp President' is racism. But this overt appeal to race? No. it's nothing. Hypocrisy on race is a part of the demented centerpiece of the Dem Party.

Using the strict description you've given here'I'd say yes. I'd definitely include anyone who fits this description into category. And when I encounter over-simplification or unreasonable hyper-sensitivity from the far left, my reaction/response is to say, 'GET A F**KING GRIP!!'
Would that more of the rational conservatives that remain were willing to call out the radicals in their midst. Unfortunately, those rational conservatives (think Joe Scarborough and Meghan McCain) are instead branded as TRAITORS TO THE CAUSE and even (gasp!) liberals.
