Rudy Giuliani Defends Chris Christie From GOP Critics: 'He Put His State First'

During an appearance on Piers Morgan's CNN show tonight, Rudy Giuliani defended New Jersey governor Chris Christie from Republican critics who said he was being too nice to President Obama in the days leading up to the 2012 election. Giuliani made the point that Christie was prioritizing hurricane relief efforts in his state over politics because he has a 'first obligation' to the people of his state.

Christie made it clear a number of times following Hurricane Sandy that it was not a time for politics and he didn't think it important that Romney get equal time to survey the damage with him. Morgan brought up the criticism to Giuliani, who said he did exactly what he was supposed to do.

'He did what he had to do as a governor. He put his state first' there are some people who are annoyed about it. I think they're being somewhat narrow and not realizing a governor has a first obligation to the people of his state.'

Giuliani also said he would definitely support a Christie presidential run in 2016, praising him as an 'excellent governor' and a great public servant.

  • So Rudy, your comments blasting FEMA for their response to superstorm Sandy are in the words of a former press secretary 'no longer operable'. LOL

  • I must say I Love the article photo' It looks like Rudy just filled his Depends, or is in the process of doing so' =)

  • Kris Kristiekreme needs to do more for New Jersey.

  • Why is this irrelevant chrome dome even being interviewed?. I don't know who's more pathetic, Piers Morgan or Rudy Giuliani. CNN totally sucks. Worthless garbage 24/7. Ditto Fox News and half of MSNBC.

  • They are both pathetic, just as MSNBC is pathetic. Then again, Fox News and CNN aren't too great either at times.

  • Rudy remains a liar and a huckster. Part of Romney losing is guys like him who were terrible surrogates. I see that Rudy did not follow Christies lead but was trying to claim that President Obama had handled Sandy just as bad as Bush had handled Katrina.

  • did you see how rudy was dancing on stage at that romney rally? He was pretending it was his rally , yelling out lies and slogans. Where was that energy when he ran the worst campaign in history? Oh yeah, ten people were showing up for Rudolph the red nose right wing.

He was a sign that Romeny's campaign was off track , this guy has negatives as bad as George Bush nation wide!

if ever there was a Rino on this planet. it would be RG

  • Unlike that hack, Ghoul-iani, though, he didn't turn the Hurricane into a political photo-op though.

Why does the media continue to invite him on their show?

  • If I were Chris Christie, I'd pass on any endorsement whatsoever from Rooody. He's turned into a complete, embarrassing tool. A la Donald Dump' they are cut from the same cloth. Both saying idiotic things just to stay in the news and engender the love of the far right wing whack jobs.

  • I wonder if Scott Walker, Rick Scott and John Kasich are listening? Shouldn't Governor's always put their state first over national politics? Why does this seem so miraculous when its a GOP governor?

  • Yep. Like Donald, he lives off of being a parody of himself.
