Republican National Committee Claims Best Fund-Raising July In History

The Republican National Committee reported on Friday that it had raised $37.7 million in July, making it the best July fund-raising ever in the party committee's history.

The RNC claimed that by the end of July it had $88.7 million cash on hand, with a yearly total of $158 million. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus expressed enthusiasm over these record-breaking figures.

'Once again, the RNC has set a monthly fundraising record, illustrating the tremendous enthusiasm for a new direction in this country,' he wrote in a statement. 'This money allows us to get our message out to voters across this country on the ground and on the air. This momentum will carry us to victory in November, when we defeat President Obama and get America working again.'

In conjunction with state GOP groups and the RNC, presumptive nominee Mitt Romney raised a total of $101.3 million in July, and ended the month with $185.9 million cash on hand. As CNN reports, that marks three straight months the Republicans have out-raised President Barack Obama, whose July fundraising yielded only $75 million.
