Is This An Onion Story? Bachmann Apparently Now A Swiss Citizen

Well, that came out of nowhere. America-loving Michele Bachmann, who said earlier this year she had a rather negative experience running for president of the United States, may be thinking about giving Switzerland politics a shot, as the Minnesota Congresswoman has just become a citizen of the western European country.
Bachmann, whose husband Marcus has always been eligible for Swiss citizenship thanks to his parents' background, reportedly became a citizen of the small nation in mid-March and has the option of seeking office in her new land, according to a Swiss television report. Bachmann's office confirmed the news to POLITICO:
'Congresswoman Bachmann's husband is of Swiss descent, so she has been eligible for dual-citizenship since they got married in 1978. However, recently some of their children wanted to exercise their eligibility for dual-citizenship so they went through the process as a family.'
No word on whether she will try to rule in some form over there, although she did joke that competition in Switzerland 'would be very stiff because they are very good.' After this presidential election, in which she duked it out with a bunch of guys, I think she can handle the peculiarity of running for office in Europe!
Many are wondering whether Bachmann will seriously give politics a chance in the slower, less chaotic country, but maybe she just wants to have an easier time planning European getaways with the family. Not everything is politically driven, guys.
