Joe The Plumber Can't Figure Out How White House Tours Work In Amazingly Awful Campaign Ad

Hey, remember Joe the Plumber? He was totally a thing that happened. Anyway, now in 2012, he is running for Congress in Ohio using his non-plumber and non-Joe name Samuel 'Joe' Wurzelbacher and, yesterday, he released a pretty amazing campaign ad. In it, he demonstrates just how perfect he'd be for elected office by demonstrating that he doesn't entirely understand how a public tour works.

In the minute long video, entitled 'A Plumber Goes To Washington, Part 1,' Wurzelbacher explains that President Obama once 'dropped by his house to start a conversation' so now he's going to do the same. The camera then watches from across the street as the Congressional candidate, strolls over to the White House gate, mills around for a few seconds, apparently gives up, and walks back over to complain about Obama not being 'home' at 3pm. That's it.

I guess he was trying to continue his 'every man' persona as well as make the President seem, I don't know, elitist (?) but it just looks like Joe doesn't comprehend who the President is, what his job is, and how someone takes a tour of the White House. The ad purposefully echoes Mr. Smith Goes to Washington in its title but, in actuality, it's more like if Frank Capra had made his movie 10 minutes long and all about Jimmy Stewart struggling to by a bus ticket.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, 'Gosh, I can't wait for Part 2!'
