CNN's Howard Kurtz Takes On Daily Caller Writer Over Neil Munro's Heckling Obama

On Friday, The Daily Caller's Neil Munro made headlines when he interrupted President Obama during his remarks about his new immigration policy. While Tucker Carlson praised and defended Munro, others weren't so kind, including Reliable Sources' Howard Kurtz. On Sunday, he spoke to Current TV's Cenk Uygur as well as The Daily Caller's Matt Lewis, who wasn't keen on criticizing his colleague.

Kurtz first turned to Uygur's take on this 'monumental act of rudeness.' Uygur called it 'completely and utterly unacceptable,' arguing 'we need to have some sense of decorum.' However, while we need to 'let people say their piece,' Uygur also said our media isn't aggressive enough in questioning the president.

Lewis started by noting Munro's being an Irish immigrant and a 'seasoned reporter.' He then said we need to put the incident in context, and began to note how the immigration policy bypasses Congress ' at which point Kurtz interrupted him, saying that's not what this discussion is about.

'I've only got a few seconds,' Kurtz said. 'Would you have done what he did? Was he wrong?'

Lewis pointed to Uygur's call for more aggressive questioning, asserting that since there wasn't going to be a question-and-answer session, that was the only chance Munro had to speak out. Kurtz countered, 'It happens all the time, he had no business interrupting the president.' Defensively, Lewis began to make a point about being deferential to authority, eventually saying, 'He did the right thing.'

Kurtz concluded, 'I understand that you have to defend your guy, but that's a ludicrous answer.'

  • Typical, make the story about the reporter, not about burning law and order, voiding the Constitution and making a path to amnesty.

  • Obama could've said nothing and allowed Secret Service to take care of it.  He chose to make a scene.

  •  Yeah, who would have thought that a show that specifically critiques the news industry would have a done a segment critiquing the news industry.

Another bagger who really doesn't know where he is.

  • First time watching Reliable Sources? Must be or you would know the show is about the MEDIA and how they cover the news. Not the news itself.

  •  If Anthony B. Gonzalez was a chicken he would be voting for Colonel Sanders as well'

  • The guy tried to ask the haughty King Obama a question about his lawless pandering, but Barry only talks to Anna Wintour, Barbra Streisand and his elite cronies, not the 'small' people who don't have 40 grand to schmooze with him.

A week before, Obama had a 'press conference' and called on three reporters. Three.

Royalty like King Obama don't realize they are government employees, answerable to us.

  • End of world economy coming to a possible end as we know it 15 minutes from now and no coverage on this ostensibly heavily frequented site?

So what if drama-queen Obama's little feelings were hurt by a heckler. A Greece exit from the Euro zone could spell a surefire end to his 2nd term aspirations

  •  You're right, it is typical.  'Reliable Sources' is a media watch dog show so they are talking about the reporter, get it? Nitwit.

  • Munro should be banned from any further press gatherings as well as any reporter from Tucker Carlson's operation. Screw you Carlson. You should fire your hack reporter, stand up and be a man and tell everyone how embarrassed you are that someone representing your organization would int erupt the president while he is speaking. You right wing TeaIdiots even at the top of your pathetic food chain are the worst people I have ever seen in my life.

  •  What a worthless show then, lol.

  • Yes Howard, a citizen should be quiet and not interrupted the President while he violates the constitution

  •  So sad that one individual, namely YOU, can bring down our collective national I.Q. so much. How many limbs do you have? With posts like this, its doubtful that you've made it this far through life without losing a limb or two or three . . . .Geez, the idiocy!!!!

  • If CNN ' or the other Obama-lackeys in the Press corps ' asked those questions, this poor guy wouldn't have to!

  • You know'It's a sad day in America when the POTUS decides to just make his own law  and thwart the will of the people and guys like Kurtz and Uygur only care that it was impolite to interrupt him while he was speaking.
Obama is turning to an army of illegal aliens to prevail over American citizens to keep his job one more term and drag this country down even further and those two clowns are crying about manners.

Neil Munro showed more guts and courage than the whole Obama media complex combined who only kneel before him.

  • I actually like this whole incident. It's letting us know who the really insane wingnuts are in the media. If you're defending what Munro did, you're firmly in the grip of Obama derangement syndrome.

  • He's the decider.

  •  Obama said''excuse me sir'''''yeah, quite a scene!!

  • You're dumb.

  •  You know'It's a sad day in America when the POTUS decides to just make his own law  and thwart the will of the people
    '..

Another one of those that totally forgot 2000 to 2008.

  • Yes, the president could use one more lap dog.

  • HOwie jumps to the defense of Obama when the DC guy talked about THE issue  -  which is POTUS over stepping his rights and stomping on the constitution  ' but Howie doesn't care about that.  Nope ' this POTUS can get away with sex with a minor or murder, and Howie would screech at a reporter for asking him about it.

Shame on Howie, shame on the media for giving this usurper the benefit of the doubt.

  • A huge R word stands all over that incident.

  • I know! It's Obama's fault some racist tea bagging jack ass felt he could heckle the president! Why do you tea baggers hate the american way of life so much?

  • Calling the DC mongoloids writers is like calling advertisers artists, it belittles the entire profession
