Telemundo Anchor Mocks GOP On Immigration: 'Aryan, Blond, Blue Eyed People' Need Reform Too

On Tuesday, Telemundo anchor José Díaz-Balart weighed in on Congress' ongoing efforts to strike a bipartisan deal to achieve comprehensive immigration reform. While reporting on the state of negotiations, Díaz-Balart chided members of the Republican Party by saying that the GOP should support immigration reform because there were 'Aryan, blond, blue-eyed' people in need of immigration reform as well as Latinos.

Alex Wagner asked Díaz-Balart for his impressions on Gen. Colin Powell's 'important' statements about the Republican party on Meet the Press on Sunday when he said the GOP harbors a 'dark vein of intolerance' towards minorities.

Wagner asked if the GOP's moderates can overcome hardline Republicans in Congress who oppose any form of immigration reform that could become law.

'There is some progress,' Díaz-Balart said noting that a small, bipartisan group has been working towards comprehensive immigration reform.

'Let's remember that the 11 million people that are here illegally aren't just Latinos,' Díaz-Balart added. 'You know, there are some Aryan, blond, blue-eyed people here without documents too. It's not just a Latino issue, my friends.'

'Well said,' exclaimed a laughing Wagner.
