CNN reports that on Friday night, the bus driver refused to drop the woman off at her village and instead drove her to another location where he and six other men raped her repeatedly. The next morning, she was taken to her home where she relayed the incident to her family.
'They threatened me with a sharp edged weapon and did wrong things with me,' the victim said. 'They kept me confined all through the night and forced me to do what they want.'
Six men, including the driver, have been arrested but the seventh man remains at large.
This is the second headline-making gang rape that has occurred in India in the past month. In December, a 23-year-old was attacked and raped by six men, also on a bus. The victim died two weeks later, sparking international outrage over the event.
