The 2012 Election Cycle Cost A Whopping $7 Billion Total (Or 50 Billion Polio Vaccines-Worth)

The Federal Elections Commission released a report this week saying that money spent on the 2012 election cycle topped out at more than $7 billion. That number includes money spent by political candidates, parties and outside groups.

FEC Chairwoman Ellen Weintraub told POLITICO, 'It's a lot of money. Every presidential election is the most expensive ever. Elections don't get cheaper.'

The video below, from Newsy, outlined some other things $7 billion can buy. Those include 28 Boeing 787 planes, 70 private islands, and perhaps most revealingly, 50 billion polio vaccines.
