MSNBC Anchor: Does NRA CEO 'Demean The Argument' For Second Amendment By Fear Mongering?

On Sunday, National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre challenged the presumed efficacy of Sen. Dianne Feinstein's (D-CA) recently proposed Assault Weapons Ban. LaPierre said that Feinstein's true desire, if she was not constrained by the Constitution, is the confiscation of the firearms in private hands. On Monday, MSNBC Anchor Thomas Roberts asked his panel guests if LaPierre demeans the pro-Second Amendment rights argument with his emphasis on fear mongering rather than addressing the merits of gun control proposals.

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, LaPierre said he does not believe pro-gun control lawmakers in Washington can be trusted. He specifically cited Sen. Feinstein who he said has expressed a desire to confiscate certain firearms if it was possible.

'Does it ' does he demean the argument by the fact he shows up and would rather fear monger than talk about facts?' Roberts asked former press secretary to Rick Santorum, Alice Stewart.

'Quite a bit of that interview was about the facts,' Stewart countered. She said that LaPierre raised important concerns about the minuscule impact background checks would have on crime prevention.
